But what if internet existed in history?

Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life said that if internet existed in history, there will be no abortion!  Quirino Sugon Jr. of Monk's Hobbit said that an hour of tweeting a day sends Reproductive Health Law (RH Law) away!  Actually, I fully believed in what they said.

In the hands of upright people, the internet is a power for social change.  If Christ were to be born today, his apostles will surely use the net to win friends and followers, as well as publish what they hear and see in Jesus' company.

To date, 65% of the world's population is still not online but those 24/7 net users are the decision-makers. They bring the world where they want; hopefully, to what is true, good and beautiful!  We need apostles online!

It takes time to configure oneself in the use of multi-media.  The young ones are the experts but they hardly have had the experience of solid-catechesis of what life is, hence, they need to be joined by the older ones. Let them discover your wisdom via social media.

Dialogue of life still happens but in another way-- in mediated way!  It's the language of the young which adults couldn't avoid, and that is, if we want to be relevant.  The "generation divide" is at last avoided; thanks to Inter Mirifica that said "Media are God's gifts".

I joined Facebook for the sole reason of keeping track of my nephews and nieces; their friends, their whatabouts and whereabouts and I joined Twitter to see that RH Law will not be implemented as it is! Internet made it possible although I am 3,264 miles away.

In an outreach to Nowshera-Risalpur flood victims, we brought some providence. These women lost everything and yet when asked, what do you desire most? They said, they have everything because now, they have the Word of God; the Bible!  May they also be heard, those without internet connection!

What now that internet is here to stay?

Now that internet is here to stay, look for the positive aspects:

(1)  Internet is very powerful!  It has attracted 34.57% of the global population; 2.42 billion out of 7 billion people access it (http://www.statista.com/topics/1145/internet-usage-worldwide/).

(2)  Internet facilitates communication!  As the most populated continent; most users are from Asia and Asians are hospitable by nature-- open, welcoming, listening, communicating...

(3) The internet adapts to the lifestyle of its users!  Rapid migration demands speed and portability of communication tools.

(4)  Internet satisfies its users!  Unsatisfaction leads to other ways of ingenuity.

(5)  Internet is an open venue to encounter other cultures!    (http://w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/messages/communications/documents/papa-francesco_20140124_messaggio-comunicazioni-sociali.html).

(6) Internet is a portal for dialogue of truth.

(7) Internet in the hands of good people leads to further progress for the sake of the young.

What if internet never existed?

If internet never existed, then there would be no world wide web (http://technology.inquirer.net/34738/world-wide-web-turns-25-years-old)  and so, there would be no social media but human persons are basically social beings, hence, the internet will be ultimately crafted...

The reality is this, every person needs to communicate from the very beginning of times... in whatever form from solid rocks to perfumed homemade stationeries, from quills to touch screens...

Human need is the mother of invention, hence, the mobile phone generously emerged from the two tin cans connected by a long piece of string to Alexander Grahambell's telephone.

The first successful entry in the net was a series of memorandums about "Galactic Network" concept in 1962 (http://www.internetsociety.org/internet/what-internet/history-internet/brief-history-internet). Indeed, if there is a will, there is a way!

I know that internet will come in time because there is always somebody thinking of modernization. But what if there was no internet? Definitely, there will be a lot of time saved to enjoy fresh, unmediated reality!

But the reality is, internet existed even without me asking for it! Then I found myself opening an e-mail account, then a Facebook account and then a Twitter account. Life becomes an endless accountability.

It's okay. Internet is here. We all have to live that reality. But the real reality is, internet connectivity exists while our life exists. The desire to be forever connected will be totally granted, in heaven for all eternity!
